HISTORY.
This figure is inspired by a ceramic statuette, that was inherent in the Trypillian/Cucuteni Era.
This cultural civilization developed on the territory of modern Ukraine from about 5400 to 2750 B.C. Its was a holistic worldview, which was represented in a variety of decorative and ritual forms. A special place in this system is occupied by the symbol of the Great Foremother.
This image symbolises the union of TWO LIGHT-CREATING FORCES: heavenly fire and earthly moisture. it is a universal code of the cosmic womb, which continuously gives birth to life and multiplies it.
“The image of the Great Mother, as the Progenitor of the world of gods and people, is born of cosmic forces - fire and water. In her multifaceted image we have the “Universal Image of the Cosmic Goddess” ".
(V. Mytsyk, 2007, According to the Law of the World Order).
To enhance the vitality of an early Trypillian statuette: During the creation of the sculpture, flour was added to the clay, and wheat grains were inserted into the rhombus area before firing.
According to archaeology, the ceramics were then crushed. And its parts were scattered on the fields for a successful harvest. (symbol of rhomb and dots inside)
The Great-mother ceramic sculpture was placed upon the altar inside each clay-builded home, for the ritual of visualising and empowering their intentions.
